Fishing For Beginners - Carp Fishing
Cat No. PEGDVD1203

So you want to learn how to catch carp... well who would know more about that subject than the journalist, author and broadcaster Julian Cundiff? Julian has specialised in the capture of carp, written countless articles and broadcast several programmes about the skills that he's developed and the methods he's used to catch fish throughout the years. However, this programme is not sixty minutes of various fishermen hauling in carp after carp after carp; rather it's an in-depth look at how to improve your skills as an angler for Britain's favourite fish. During the programme Julian will demonstrate in great detail, how to make your own boilies. He'll show you a couple of his favourite mixes, with tips and hints to make what appears to be a complicated process very simple. Julian will show you how to set up your end tackle, how to make hair rigs; he explains the importance of presentation and throughout the programme, will offer you endless amounts of priceless tips and advice. Oh, and of course you will see Julian putting all that advice into practice, as he catches some very nice common carp. We hope that you enjoy this programme and that you will be able to use the knowledge passed on by Julian to help make you become a better angler.

Bob expertly demonstrates the methods, baits and tactics used to produce the best results from a small still water. There are loads of tips and advice here from a man whose knowledge and experience is second to none. Then on to Gold Valley Lakes where we join Will Raison; Will shows us his tactics with the pole, which have helped make him one of the country's top competition anglers. Leaving Will to bag up, we travel south to Romsey in Hampshire where we meet up with that ever popular character and big fish expert Des Taylor. Des is fishing Broadlands Lake, which in his words, is 'stuffed with fish'.  Fishing For Beginners: Fly Fishing
Cat No. PEGDVD1201

What better way to get to grips with the basics of fly fishing and to broaden your approach, than to learn from a programme which features former England International team member, coach and manager Simon Gawesworth and the one time European Fly Fishing Champion Iain Barr. Let's start our programme by joining Simon at Blakewell Fisheries in Devon where he'll be showing us a variety of fly fishing equipment and how best to assemble it. Simon will then move on to expertly demonstrate presentation and how to catch rainbow trout on nymphs and ultimately the dry fly. There'll even be a fleeting glimpse of a nice brown trout which embarrassingly for Simon evades final capture! We'll then go to Lenches Lake in Evesham where the inimitable Iain Barr will show us the type of tactics that made him European Champion. Ian will be fishing with a team of three nymphs, all the time analysing for us his style of fishing, the methods he's using and the reasoning behind his actions. Compare the approach to the wonderful sport of fly fishing by two very different characters, both experts in the field but who utilise totally contrasting styles. Learn from their teaching and hopefully it will broaden your knowledge and improve your skills in the ever fascinating world of fly fishing.

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For Roach

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For Roach
Cat No. PEGDVD1205

When two of the country's best fishermen explain their methods and tactics for catching roach, you are in for a bumper amount of useful tips and advice. In this programme you have just that; we start off with big fish expert Des Taylor fishing a two day session at Broadlands Lake. You'll see Des fishing what some may nowadays consider 'old hat' float tactics with rod and line. On the contrary, he shows with great success how enjoyable and successful this method can be. With his usual laid back presentation style, an informative night session on the feeder method completes Des's highly informative contribution. In complete contrast, we then move up north to meet up with Tom Pickering. Tom demonstrates some of the tactics that have made him a top match angler. Fishing a local canal using the pole, his totally different approach, in a completely different environment rapidly becomes apparent. Two different characters... two different methods... two different waters, with a wealth of info to help you improve your fishing for roach.

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For Tench

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For Tench
Cat No. PEGDVD1204

The tench has a special appeal to probably the majority of today's anglers as it's a species on which many have cut their teeth. Unfairly sometimes called the 'stench' otherwise also known as 'bars of soap' this unmistakable character is a favourite of all those who come into contact with it. Its greeny bronze colouring, bright orange eyes, massive paddles and slippery coating are all recognisable characteristics of this handsome fish. Capable of growing to a size in excess of 15lb, these powerful fish have become a reliable target species, not only for the occasional fisherman, but also the match angler. In this programme we're going to try and 'come to grips' with this species by placing our confidence in the hands of specialist angler David Maddocks. He'll be joined by his brother angling legend Kevin of carp and cat fame and to finish we'll catch up with four times World Coarse Angling Champion Bob Nudd MBE on a cracking little water... with a waggler.

Fishing With The Experts

 Fishing With The Experts
Cat No. PGDV3BX022

~ DISC ONE - FISHING WITH THE EXPERTS FOR CARP ~ For many anglers the ultimate fish in British waters is the carp. In only twenty or so years we've seen this species capture the imagination of at least a million anglers and the carp have responded to a mass influx of food by just getting bigger and bigger. In 2001 the British Carp Record was over 59lbs.. the same fish has been caught again recently and now weighs a staggering 61lbs. How long can this retain the British title? The goal of most fanatical carp anglers is the capture of a 30lbs specimen in British waters, in this programme we will see that other extraordinary species Des Taylor do just that.. twice! Des is one of the most entertaining and informative presenters in today's angling world and certainly is one of the better journalists. He demonstrates excellently the beauty of simplicity.. landing all his fish on the simplest of rigs. Des really knows his stuff and after watching him, hopefully you'll know his stuff too! In this DVD, Des imparts an abundance of essential information; which if put into practise on the right fishery, will definitely help you to achieve..or even exceed your angling goals. Whether you're an expert or a novice, there's something here for everyone. Firstly though, to whet your appetite; see the founding father of modern carping Kevin Maddocks in action at Ringstead Fisheries with a 46lbs fish and his good mate Rob Hales tackling one of over 30lbs. (Incidentally, keep your eyes peeled for a couple of cracking catfish, caught by fellow anglers during the same session). Enjoy the programme and tight lines! ~ DISC TWO - FISHING WITH THE EXPERTS FOR PIKE ~ For many years, fishing for pike was considered only as a seasonal option. Not now! When carp and coarse fishermen are waiting anxiously for the arrival of spring, the intrepid angler in need of winter action has a serious predator to consider. In this programme we're going to join Mick Brown, considered one of the best pike anglers in the UK. Mick explains the tackle he'll be using and shows us some of his massive array of artificial lures. Firstly he'll demonstrate his skills in the comparative comfort of the early summer months, landing pike from a secluded estate lake. Deadbaits and exciting lure fishing are the order of the day. With the passing of the seasons, we join Mick on the snow covered banks of a gravel pit in the depths of East Anglia, where we learn the tactics needed to entice pike in pristine condition to take float fished or ledgered deadbaits. Then we'll move on to the river and during a blizzard...learn from Mick how to catch pike from an anchored boat using the livebait method. To finish off we briefly meet up with that other extraordinary species Des Taylor, as he successfully hunts for the elusive twenty pounder! Mick Brown and then Des Taylor in the same keep net? What a catch! ~ DISC THREE - FISHING WITH THE EXPERTS FOR BARBEL ~ Pound for pound the barbel has to be the strongest fighting fish in UK freshwater. It is always a surprise and a pleasure to see the size that this particular species of river fish can grow to and to get a barbel on your line is compelling angling indeed. What better way to learn the necessary skills, than from top all-round angler Des Taylor and his contemporary; none other than the four times World Coarse Angling Champion, Bob Nudd MBE. In this programme we start our barbel fishing education, under the guidance of Des Taylor in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside on the River Teme. Des explains where to look for your quarry, what tackle to use and which baits give you the best chance of catching the much sought after barbel. We'll then move on to watch our old friend Bob Nudd MBE as he does battle on the River Wye with not only the fish but also the good old English weather. Never one to be beaten, Bob enthusiastically explains methods and demonstrates that inclement weather conditions can sometimes be the best for successful angling. And for the final stint we'll return to Des Taylor catching a tremendous scrapper on the magnificent River Severn. Packed full of tips, techniques, three great rivers and many good barbel, this DVD is a must. Look forward to seeing you on the riverbank!

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For The Secret Carp

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For The Secret Carp
Cat No. PEGDVD1186

Chris Yates, one time holder of the British Carp Record with a fish of over 51lbs is a hugely popular, much admired, prolific writer and orator on the art of fishing. Chris is from that old school of anglers; one of a rare breed who still uses cane rods and original reels. In this programme he demonstrates quite clearly that it's not the tackle that catches the big fish...but rather it's the angler's approach which is all important. On a hot sunny day at a lake in Hampshire we'll see Chris successfully fishing for carp, trying various methods including curry flavoured maggots and surface baits to capture his quarry. In his own inimitable style he totally absorbs himself into the atmosphere of his surroundings. Having the eye of a keen photographer, Chris notices and comments on the plants and wildlife and being a real country man it's not just the fishing that's important but the whole of the rich tapestry laid out before him, as he quite rightly says 'you can't waste a day in a place like this when there's so much going on around you'. Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For Trout

Fishing With The Experts - Fishing For Trout
Cat No. PEGDVD1190

The art of fly fishing is one genre of angling that really can be considered an artform. When fly fishing we are attempting to fool one of nature's wilier fish... the trout... into believing that a presented imitation is a food source, familiar to them in their own environment. A fly is created to imitate natural insects or grubs using various materials; feather, fur, or similar and within its construction is concealed a hook. This tiny artificial is floated or sunk to a required depth and in the right hands becomes a lethal weapon in the pursuit of trout. The lure is another story; tied using the same method as an imitative pattern but incorporating bright flashy materials. Not generally produced to represent a food item, these are designed more to appeal to the aggressive side of the trout's nature. In this programme we'll see Simon using both methods but first we get stuck in at the deep end of fly fishing with the shallower, fast flowing water of the River Torridge in Devon. Here Simon wades in the pursuit of the natural brown trout and then in complete contrast we take to a boat on Chew Valley to show what is available in the greater depths of a reservoir or lake. Without doubt one of the UK's best fly fishing instructors; Simon Gawesworth has filled roles as both an England International and the team manager and coach. Here's an excellent opportunity to watch, listen and learn from a maestro doing his thing on both river and reservoir. Introduction by Liam Dale

John will explain the type of tackle best suited for the job and describe the different flies including lures, nymphs, buzzers and dry flies and how they should be worked. He will show you the techniques involved in loch style drift fishing with floating lines, fishing subsurface from an anchored boat and many of the other methods. Michael Evans: Fly Casting For Beginners

Michael Evans: Fly Casting For Beginners
Cat No. AR061D

The graceful art of fly-casting is a mystery to the casual observer and most newcomers to the sport of game fishing. Here, with the help of one of the country's most famous casting experts Michael Evans; we go a long way to solving that mystery. Michael's precise but simplistic approach, allows even the complete novice to gain the necessary skills to cast a fly to an awaiting trout. Breaking the cast down into various stages, he will show you that what appears to be a complex procedure, can with practice, easily become second nature. There is advice on suitable equipment and on how it should be set up, and some fascinating night time shots which illuminate the path of well cast and for the sake of demonstration, sometimes not so well cast lines. Michael takes time to point out the most common faults that he sees when teaching and shows you how to eradicate them. This DVD is a must for any newcomer having problems getting to grips with the basics of fly-casting, or indeed for any fly fisherman/woman who needs a refresher to brush up on their existing skills.

Cat No. AR063D

In this the second programme of the series, it's time to move on to the larger still waters. Having mastered the basic skills of small still water flycasting, with the overhead and roll cast, we must now expand our repertoire and venture into slightly more advanced territories. Our fly-casting expert Michael Evans explains that sometimes there is the need to be able to cast just that little bit further. With the help of the single haul and then the double haul, he'll show us how to literally add yards to our cast. Hauling is also a useful technique for casting into strong head winds, which is often the type of condition experienced on the reservoirs or larger still waters, where we now find ourselves. Using illuminated night time shots, filmed on his own water in Kent, Michael demonstrates how with a little practise you too could be 'casting down to the backing'. Follow and apply Michael's clear and precise instruction and this DVD will help perfect your techniques for advanced fly-casting.
