Catweazle: The Complete Series

 Catweazle: The Complete Series
Cat No. 7953162

It’s an incredible forty years since Catweazle arrested the boredom of Sunday afternoons to become a television legend, and on this special edition DVD set of both series he returns to enchant a new generation with his unique brand of magical comedy. Filled with humour, warmth and charm, Catweazle captured the imagination of children everywhere with Richard Carpenter’s wondrous story of a bumbling magician and his pet toad, trapped nine hundred years ahead of their own time. Unforgettable for Geoffrey Bayldon’s entrancing performance as Catweazle the wizard, the series also boasted a superb regular cast, while guest appearances by some of Britain’s finest actors of the period – including Hattie Jacques and Peter Sallis – ensured the quality status of the production. Catweazle is a magical dip into the past for those who saw these series originally, and a special treat for everyone who will experience this classic for the first time.

Roberts Robots: Series 1

 Roberts Robots: Series 1
Cat No. 7953204

Brilliant inventor Robert Sommerby is head of a research establishment that is engaged in a very special secret project: the development of robots. Far from the crude, lumbering, steelc-lawed automatons of sci-fi films, Robert’s robots are humanoid in appearance and ultrasophisticated in design, with highly developed electronic brains, fast reflexes and smooth, natural movement. Naturally, there are personality clashes; Eric is Robert’s most advanced robot, who thinks humans are quite disgusting with their revolting habits like eating, while K.T. (aka Katie) is big, strong, and very stupid - he has a tendency to walk through doors and is generally kept away from guests. The eccentric Robert encounters all sorts of problems - not least, the devious activities of Marken, head of an acquisitive electronics company, and his seedy private eye, Gimble, who will try anything to discover Robert’s secret project. But he has his doting Aunt Millie and lovely fiancée Angela to help out, and he’s just about tolerated by at least some of his robots - who are fair-minded enough to concede that he is, after all, only human! From Bob Block, the creator of Rentaghost, Roberts Robots stars John Clive as Robert and Magpie presenter Jenny Hanley as Angela, and is available here for the first time in any format. This release comprises all seven episodes of series one, originally transmitted in 1973.

The Magic Ball 1

 The Magic Ball 1
Cat No. 7952552

Classic 70's Animated series created by BAFTA/Emmy winning Cosgrove Hall productions. Anyone who was a child in the 70's will instantly recognize the music, the concept or the voiceover of The Magic Ball - delivered in the dulcet tones of Eric Thompson - also the voice of Playschool and Magic Roundabout. The Magic Ball is all about a little boy called Sam who lived in a seaside town called Haythornethwaite. His grandparents owned a curio shop, which held a never-ending fascination for Sam. The thing is that he had a magic ball he carried around with him everywhere and, while he would stare, dreamily about a certain item, the magic ball would fire up and take him on a magic adventure. These almost always contained knights, dragons, maidens, Eskimos, red Indians or lions.
